Mindset

It’s MINDSET FRIDAY

You will see people go into the weekend mode, party hard or shutdown. Maybe that’s you.

Let me ask you a couple of questions,

Is the party mindset a celebration of how you made it to the end of a boring and soul destroying week ?

Or

Do you go into shutdown mode to rest from the physical and mental tedium of your work?

You can comment or not, it’s kind of a time to ponder on what it is we are doing with our life!

I have worked with loads of men over the years and most of the limitations they where facing had something to do with the job they had, the career path they had chosen.

I call it misalignment, I have been there for sure. I have however been brutal in my execution of businesses I had that didnt light me up. In otherwords I was tuned in to my own feelings and realised that if what I did every day didn’t give me happiness… I had to find what did.

The main argument I hear about change is that people become a self shackled slave to the money or/ and the prestige of a title. The question I ask is, ‘ does the money, title, social standing and so on give you happiness’ ?

Of course these things can help you achieve a happy life balance, but this can be a problem. If there is no balance we become misaligned and we may work toward one of the two options for our weekend listed above.

If you have all the money in the world and hate yourself because your life is based on what you can buy instead of what you can give or you work in a job that steals your time and pays you less than you deserve, there is no fulfilment, no happiness.

What’s the secret to being aligned then ?

My experience is you can hold on to something that you are afraid to let go o, you can sacrifice the time your family deserves, you can put your own dreams on hold and you can drive that thing into the ground and just crash and burn.

If your lucky you climb out of the wreckage like I did and you say from now on I will only do things that will align me to my core values and beliefs.

Next week I’ll hit you with how to establish bullet proof values and core beliefs and discard the limiting shit that pollutes our mind.

Who you trying to impress?

I had a client that continually posted on social media about how he gets up at 5am and hits the cold shower, runs x amount of miles before breakfast and so on, I was working with him because he had problems with getting other stuff done. Thing is he couldn’t see that the issue was right in front of his eyes.

The stinging question I asked him was, ” when you post about all your stuff, running, working till 10pm and so on…… who is it your trying to impress?

Somewhat taken aback he said, ‘no one’.

I  continued, ‘Ahh so by posting your routine on social media what is achieved what is the purpose of it’?

He couldn’t answer other than its what people do.

We looked a bit deeper and found that he believed it was hard core getting up early and getting a cold shower. He believed their where health benefits.

He wanted to project an image of a guy that was in control , someone who was fit and healthy.

I asked him was that image he projected congruent with who you are in reality?

Hi problems being based around not having time to do the things he should be doing ( his words) like being a better father and husband, spending more time with his family and less time at work.

He came to realise that he was trying to project to the world and impress on it that he was happy and sorted but in fact it was a mask of busyness.

I asked him how it made him feel that he was not doing the things he knew were really important, and he realised that he was relying on the likes on his posts to validate who he projected he was and had become numb to the inner self that was in his words disgusted.

He came to a realisation that he was not impressing himself and because of some misalignment he had fallen into the trap of external validation.

My question to you is, Who are you trying to impress?

It’s time to talk.

Put it down and see your mood lift.

IS BOOZE F#CKING YOU UP?

I suffered for years with depressive mood swings and the doctor wanted to put me on medication. I avoided medication and started to look at my diet and what I drank, I’m talking about Alcohol.

It’s no secret that Alcohol can be a depressant but not many people want to address this inconvenient downside.

Another issue that is not often addressed is Alcohol consumed regularly can also contribute to lowering our testosterone.

Lowered testosterone has been linked to depression….. who knew.

11 years ago I stopped drinking, I am sure that cutting Alcohol out completely was a factor in my depressive moods evaporating. Unfortunately I do not have any data on my T levels at that time but I guess they where low.

I don’t want to be a kill joy but it’s a fact that if we carry on Consuming volumes of alcohol when we are 30+ it will affect us negatively.

Once I accepted that I would be better off and feel better without it, quitting was easy. I had a WHY and it was backed up with an outcome, beating depression and feeling better.

There are of course many other health benefits to going tea total weight loss, more energy, clearer thinking to name a few but I believe the psychology of taking back control has massive benefits to self confidence and self esteem.

Give it a go and in due course let me know how it impacts you.

Your perfect action plan

Wow, here we are already into January good and proper, but how many of you are still working on your master plan before taking action.

Maybe the time ain’t right and the details need to be ironed out first?

That my friend is another old story from yesterday’s news. The time will never be right if your looking for perfection and the details for perfection can take a lifetime to get right.

That’s why F all happens bro.

Here’s Tony Prestons 3.5 top tips for 22

1. Start doing it today with that basic half arsed plan yeh the one without all the fancy detail and flashy website.

2. Follow your gut instinct.

3. Do you, and give the world your unique qualities that make your idea or plan GOLDEN.

3.5. Take action, “take massive action today”

It’s a scary thing to let go of the known especially if it’s all warm, fluffy, comfortable and easy. If it’s not what lights you up? Well it’s basically something that is your jailer.

It took me 10 years of introspection to find out certain aspects of my life was held me down like my invisable custodian, even though I am a psychodynamic therapist and I guess I should have been on to it earlier, the time ticks by and before we know it, “what it is that is causing us stress becomes an accepted part of who we think we are”.

Look guys this is the time, today is right, if you follow your gut instinct big things will happen for you in 2022. Good luck and don’t sweat the small stuff.

If you can’t control your own emotions you will lose.

It’s hard being a grown up sometimes especially when it feels natural to spit out our dummy and throw a mini hissy fit.

Let me ask you a question, ‘ would you trust or even deal with someone that will fall down under a bit of stress?’ Maybe you would but eventually repeated bad behaviour can make it difficult for you to take them seriously.

But what about our own state management, I’m talking about anger, frustration, arousal, and so on?

I used to think my own misgivings regarding having no control of my own state were on the whole something that others just accepted.

People might accept us for being a bit hot headed, moody or impatient but does that behaviour inspire them to value us?

Once I realised these mental blips are visible and remembered by our family, friends bosses and customers. I started a process of becoming aware of triggers that changed my state.

To manage our own thinking requires work, watching for the triggers, acknowledged human weakness such as judgment or prejudice need deep introspection and sometimes professional help from a counsellor or psychotherapist. Maybe you just realise that your state of mind is a result of your own stinking thinking and decide to change it.

How liberating to establish within my own understanding what was previously an unmanaged and unexplained impulse or outburst in relation to my state of mind changing for the worse.

I did the work and continue to watch my thoughts daily because if I can’t manage my state of mind… I will lose.

Don’t be a talker or a fader

With a few exceptions from those I personally know and would put money on them doing what they say they will do in 22 , the posts will start appearing of people intending on smashing this and that and changing something for the better in 2022.

Fat loss, making more dough, getting fitter, getting a better job.

Mostly bluster, some do get stuck in for a while but fade away.

Don’t be a fader, or worse still a talker of your big ideas for 22 because time is short.

You can be a finisher. But to finish you have to start somewhere.

I am taking on new clients Jan 22, if you really want to achieve something worthwhile it takes an investment in yourself.

Are you worth investing in or are you going all DIY again on a familiar set of goals?

If there’s a history of failed attempts and faded dreams? It is time to change your mindset and be held accountable.

Don’t bother coming to me if your after cheat days, there are no f#cking cheat days.

Is your shampoo causing low Testosterone?

Ok there was a time I wouldn’t have give the above headline a second glance, but that was when I was awash with Testosterone as a younger man. After all who cares when it’s all good.

Now I am in my 50’s and the wrong end of 50 at that, it’s important to keep my T levels up and delay or even stop the natural and gradual decline in this essential male hormone.

T levels have been found to reduce by at least 1% per year after the age of 30 so it makes sense to avoid the stuff that is adding to the reduction.

There are many causes of low Testosterone but here I’m looking at shampoo, (I mean who knew)?

Looking at the ingredients label on your sexy looking bottle of shampoo we can see a list of sometimes unpronounceable chemicals that loiter under the banner of xenostrogens.

Xenoestrogens are a synthetic version of the female hormone estrogen. Synthetic products by their very nature are harder for the body to dispose of so by default many of these man made chemicals are retained. These mutant estrogen are absorbed into the fat cells and alter the chemical balance of testosterone required in our bodies to help us do the stuff men do. In many cases replacing our testosterone with estrogen has devastating effects.

Sounds a bit over the top I hear you say, well if I said too much estrogen will shrink your balls and turn your masculinity button off ! How does that grab you? Some guys actively increase their estrogen levels in the pursuit of changing their gender.

So if your looking to become a female I guess you should continue washing your hair however you like but if that is not you read on.

Estrogen is found in men in significantly lower amounts than in women and it serves a purpose, helping control cholesterol, maintaining healthy bones and promoting a healthy heart. It is actually a good thing in the correct amounts but if a man gets to much Estrogen its not ideal.

Too much Estrogen can cause infertility and erectile dysfunction, it can cause the body to become fat, around the middle and even the chest area, this is called gynomastia AKA man boobs, a low sex drive and a reduction in muscle mass. If that’s not bad enough it can cause depression and mental health problems.

Ok so what to look for and avoid, heres two of the main culprits,

SULFATES – these are the ingredient that gets the lather going and foams up the soap, considering SULFATES are used extensively in industrial processes its not the ideal chemical to absord into your blood stream and it contributes to lowering your T level whilst piling in the Estrogen.

PARABENS – these are like a retarder extending the shelf life of the product and are in 80 to 90 % of shampoos. Studies have proven that exposure to Parabens have a direct link to lowering testosterone levels and can cause cancer.

So guys the label may say organic but don’t trust it, if you see SULFATES and PARABENS listed either dispose of it or don’t buy it.
