Is your shampoo causing low Testosterone?

Ok there was a time I wouldn’t have give the above headline a second glance, but that was when I was awash with Testosterone as a younger man. After all who cares when it’s all good.

Now I am in my 50’s and the wrong end of 50 at that, it’s important to keep my T levels up and delay or even stop the natural and gradual decline in this essential male hormone.

T levels have been found to reduce by at least 1% per year after the age of 30 so it makes sense to avoid the stuff that is adding to the reduction.

There are many causes of low Testosterone but here I’m looking at shampoo, (I mean who knew)?

Looking at the ingredients label on your sexy looking bottle of shampoo we can see a list of sometimes unpronounceable chemicals that loiter under the banner of xenostrogens.

Xenoestrogens are a synthetic version of the female hormone estrogen. Synthetic products by their very nature are harder for the body to dispose of so by default many of these man made chemicals are retained. These mutant estrogen are absorbed into the fat cells and alter the chemical balance of testosterone required in our bodies to help us do the stuff men do. In many cases replacing our testosterone with estrogen has devastating effects.

Sounds a bit over the top I hear you say, well if I said too much estrogen will shrink your balls and turn your masculinity button off ! How does that grab you? Some guys actively increase their estrogen levels in the pursuit of changing their gender.

So if your looking to become a female I guess you should continue washing your hair however you like but if that is not you read on.

Estrogen is found in men in significantly lower amounts than in women and it serves a purpose, helping control cholesterol, maintaining healthy bones and promoting a healthy heart. It is actually a good thing in the correct amounts but if a man gets to much Estrogen its not ideal.

Too much Estrogen can cause infertility and erectile dysfunction, it can cause the body to become fat, around the middle and even the chest area, this is called gynomastia AKA man boobs, a low sex drive and a reduction in muscle mass. If that’s not bad enough it can cause depression and mental health problems.

Ok so what to look for and avoid, heres two of the main culprits,

SULFATES – these are the ingredient that gets the lather going and foams up the soap, considering SULFATES are used extensively in industrial processes its not the ideal chemical to absord into your blood stream and it contributes to lowering your T level whilst piling in the Estrogen.

PARABENS – these are like a retarder extending the shelf life of the product and are in 80 to 90 % of shampoos. Studies have proven that exposure to Parabens have a direct link to lowering testosterone levels and can cause cancer.

So guys the label may say organic but don’t trust it, if you see SULFATES and PARABENS listed either dispose of it or don’t buy it.
